New Energy Efficient Features for Home Creations Homes!

It seems like just about everyone is doing their part to be more eco-friendly these days. How about you? Let’s see… you recycle. You have a vast collection of reusable shopping bags. And those reusable water bottles? You’re all over it! But are you being environmentally conscious when it comes to your home?

Energy efficiency is one of the biggest emerging home building trends, and for good reason!

As Home Creations co-founder Jalal Farzaneh stated in a blog article for the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association, “home builders have to make sure that their homes are going to be sustainable and good for mother earth so we have to work really, really hard to keep our natural resources protected.”

This is why at Home Creations, building strong, quality, affordable homes is just the beginning. We aim to build homes that are sustainable through green building and by providing energy efficient features in all of our homes.

Take a look at some of the updated energy efficiency features that will be standard in every Home Creations home permitted after March 1!

R-44 Insulation in the Attic

If you’re unfamiliar with insulation, here’s what you should know. Insulation is given what’s called an R-value to measure the resistance of heat getting in and out of your home. The higher the R-value, the better insulated your home is. And the better insulated your home is, the less your air conditioner has to work in the summer to keep your home cool and the less your furnace has to work in the winter to keep your home warm.

According to the Insulation Institute, a home in Oklahoma should have at least R-30 attic insulation. So a little added bonus to having R-44 insulation in your Home Creations home? You can rest assured knowing you have more than the recommended insulation helping to keep your home running with the best energy efficiency!

R-8 Perimeter Foam Insulation Under Slab

As you’ll soon learn, a Home Creations home is properly insulated from the top of its head to the bottom of its feet. Or, well, from its attic to its foundation. And here’s another change to get excited about!

We all know that every home sits on a concrete foundation. But a cold, concrete foundation can cause some discomfort, especially in the cold, winter months. And an insulated foundation is much easier to heat than an uninsulated one. So why pay extra (and make your furnace work harder) to heat a cold slab of concrete when you can buy a home with upgraded insulation already installed? That’s why each Home Creations home has R-8 insulation installed between the sand and the concrete slab, providing increased resistance to heat loss through your foundation!

16 SEER Electrical Central Air Conditioning/Gas Heating 96% High Efficiency Furnace

We all know Oklahoma weather can reach extreme temperatures on both end of the spectrum! So having efficient heating and cooling systems can save you big on your utility bills!

SEER ratings measure the performance of your cooling system and the ratings range from 13-24. The higher your SEER rating, the better your cooling system is performing and the more you’ll save. Not to mention that a better SEER rating means better energy efficiency, which, in turn, is better for the environment (and your wallet!).
Alternatively, your furnace’s efficiency is measured by annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE). An AFUE of 90% means that 90% of the energy exerted by your furnace is directly used to heat your home with only 10% energy escape. According to the United States Energy Department, a high efficiency furnace has an AFUE of at least 90%. So every furnace in a Home Creations home is of high efficiency!
